- As per the announcement of October 2023, Udaipur will become India’s first wetland city.
- This wetland will be created by the ‘Environment and Forest Department’ of Rajasthan.
- Udaipur is surrounded by 5 major lakes namely – Pichola, Fateh Sagar, Rang Sagar, Swaroop Sagar and Doodh Talai.
- It will be developed under the National Lake Conservation Plan.
- Ramsar Convention is an international treaty.
- This treaty has been made for the conservation of wetlands.
- This treaty was signed in Ramsar, Iran in the year 1975.
